David Jackson,
CEO
CONSERVATION AMBASSADORS
When not out with the animals on the road and doing educational presentations
David is busy keeping the business end together. This company was started
from a dream of David and Anita. David keeps everyone on track, sticking to
the original mission of Conservation Ambassadors. When things need to be built
around the facility David gets the job done! David has a unique way
with animals that shows in the deep bonds they have with him.
Anita
Jackson, Program Director
CONSERVATION AMBASSADORS Waking up with a kangaroo in the kitchen and a warthog on
the porch, was nothing she ever expected but it sure starts a day
out right. Anita writes the curriculum for the presentations and
trains most of the animals that live here at Zoo To You, she supervises
staff at both facilities and teaches them how to do education programs
and care for and train the animals. Everday Anita is on the
road going to schools to share the animals with school kids.
Missy
Lamar, General Manager/Educator
CONSERVATION AMBASSADORS
Little did Missy know when she
offered to help build new enclosures for some macaques that she would
be so drawn in she would never leave. She
did two internships with us while attending the E.A.T.M. program at Moorpark
College. Upon graduation she moved to Paso Robles before her husband
to start working with us. Missy
enjoys doing educational presentations about conservation and animal
training. Her favorite hobby is even animal related - Missy is a licensed
falconer. Missy’s
main job right now (she is pregnant) is to keep us all on track.
She
organizes everyones time, schedules all programs and keeps all paperwork
up to date.
Melanie
Barton, Facility Manager/Educator
WILDLIFE ON WHEELS
We should have known when she was a lion trainer in a play in preschool, what
career she would end up in. Melanie was a teacher working with special
needs children when she decided she needed to include animals in her life. Two
years later and a degree from Moorpark College, Melanie combined her two loves
Kids and Animals. Her energy and great storytelling ability make every
presentation an adventure.
Shannon
Southard, –
Trainer/keeper
ZOO TO YOU
What do you do with a degree in biology and
pschology? Well you work with animals of course!
Shannon has a love for animals and kids.
So what better place for
her to be but with us at
Zoo To You! Shannon graduated for Moorpark College in
2005.
Libby
Williams, Trainer/keeper
ZOO TO YOU
As a freshman in college, Libby experienced one of Zoo
To You’s early ‘Under the Canopy’ programs
during Poly Royal 1990. After graduating from Cal Poly, she volunteered
with Zoo To You for five years before moving away to take a job in the
Bay Area. Now, just a short 17 years after seeing her first Zoo To You
presentation, she’s traveled back to the central coast to live
an amazing life here as a keeper and animal handler. Libby’s previous
job was as a wildlife rehabilitator and animal caretaker, which had her
raising anything and everything California Native; from hummingbirds,
skunks (with the stink!) and opossums to great egrets and great-horned
owls. In her spare time, she loves to take pictures, sketch and paint
and oh yeah, she also watches too much reality t.v., but don’t
tell anyone.
Kat Amsinger, Keeper/Handler
ZOO TO YOU Despite a fear of snakes, during her senior year at Oregon State University,
Kat began an internship at a local reptile breeding and education facility.
She quickly came to love the scaly creatures and gladly took an educator
position at the facility after graduation. Kat traveled across her home
state giving school presentations, busting common snake myths and letting
second graders pet their first turtle. To expand her animal horizons, she
took up a short internship at Pacific Animal Productions in San Diego to
work with a wider variety of animals and loved it so much Kat knew she
had to keep it up. When offered a position at Zoo To You, she packed up
her car and drove straight from Corvallis, OR down to Paso Robles, CA and
couldn't be happier!
